Car show offers live music Saturday

The Hot Rods and Hatters car show is looking to bring some swing as it rolls into town this weekend. Those of the greaser, slick back, tattooed set should be pleased with the selections offered for their entertainment.

The show offers two stages of entertainment, one over in Texas Heroes Square, the other in Confederate Square. The music at Texas Heroes is free starting Friday night with Phil Rocker. The Columbian rockabilly musician will be joined by others over the weekend, including German group The Booze Bombs, Rick Broussard's Two Hoots and a Holler, The Wagoneers, Dale Watson and his Lone Stars, Erik Dongil and the Big Time Band, and Bill Pekar and the Rainey Brothers. All shows during car show hours are free.

Saturday night, Confederate Square will be fenced off for a show by country music mainstay Rick Treviño. Single ticket admission is $5, with deals on Groupon going for $7 for a pair.

In addition to the tunes, organizers will be bringing various vendors to set up shop downtown. Those areas are free to peruse — as is the actual car show — which will be splayed across downtown. More information can be found at www.hotrodsandhatters.com.
