The City of Gonzales and Gonzales Chamber of Commerce are partnering with local hoteliers to offer lodging options to those staying in the area to wait out hurricane Laura.

“In an effort to ease some of the pressures of evacuation, we will be collecting donations of water, nonperishable items, snacks and other Gonzales items to hand out for evacuees,” said Gonzales Main Street Director Liz Reiley. “If you are interested in donating, please contact me, Liz Reiley, Gonzales Main Street Director, at (830) 263-0118 or (830) 672-2815, ext. 1501, lreiley@gonzales.texas.gov or stop by 820 Saint Joseph St.; or call Daisy Scheske Freeman, Chamber Executive Director, at (830) 672-6532, CTI@gonzalestexas.com or admin@Gonzalestexas.com.”

Donations which are being asked for include items such as:

  • Bottled water
  • Snacks which are easy to eat on the go
  • Hygiene items such as hand sanitizer, toilet paper, paper towels
  • Juice boxes

Bags will be put together for evacuees at the J.B. Wells facility around 10 a.m. Thursday. Those interested in volunteering should contact Liz Reiley.
