Clinton L. Boscamp, 87, relocated to his heavenly home on May 29, 2010. He had lived in the Thompsonville community since 1967. Clinton was born Oct. 13, 1922 in Sinton, the son of Arthur and Carrie Miller Boscamp, cotton farmers. He was a retired United States Postal employee, rancher and a member of the Waelder United Methodist Church. For many years he faithfully served Thompsonville United Methodist Church as President of the Board of Trustees and Finance Chairman.

Clinton graduate from Sinton High School in 1939 and attended Corpus Christi Business College where he completed training in bookkeeping from 1942 to 1946, he honorably served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Returning from service he was manager of Jackson’s Ford Tractor dealership in Sinton. On July 19, 1947 he married Eva Marie Deason in Raymondville. In 1950 he began his career with the U.S. Post Office. For a number of years in addition to working at the post office he was office manager for the Superior Oil Company in Sinton.

He purchased land in northern Gonzales County in 1953 and spent weekends improving the property. In 1966 he and his wife and son moved to the area. Working with the Gonzales County Soil and Water Conservation District, in 1970 he began a long range program of land reclamation and management. He was named Gonzales County Outstanding Conservationist of the Year in 1985. That recognition was one of his proudest achievements. With the help of his son Clay, he established one of the first herds of purebred Charolais cattle in the county. He retired from the postal service in 1982 after 26 years of service and spent his time growing pullets for Holly Farms, Tyson Foods and improving his herd of Charolais Cattle. Clinton was a longtime member of the International Charolais Association.

When he lived near the coast, he was an avid fisherman. After moving to the ranch, he enjoyed gardening in his free time. He took special pride in his vegetable gardens. Many happy hours were spent on his four-wheel Honda taking his dogs on an evening run. As long as he was physically able, he and Eva pulled their fifth wheel Hitchhiker RV and traveled visiting twenty-five states. Late in life he took pleasure just sitting and watching the cattle and other ranch activities. The vision he had transforming the undeveloped land he had purchased fifty years earlier had become what he had hoped and worked for it be. He could now rest and enjoy the fruits of his labor.

Clinton L. Boscamp is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eva Boscamp of Waelder, son and daughter-in-law, Clay and Julie Boscamp of Waelder, a grandson and his wife, Caleb and Heather Boscamp of Gonzales, Caitlyn Boscamp of Waelder, great-granddaughter, Caleigh Boscamp, sisters, Pauline Stewart of Seguin and Dorothy Lightfoot of Sinton, and a brother, Bobby Boscamp of Austin.
