County reports 13 active cases of COVID-19

As of Nov. 12, COVID-19 data from the office of Gonzales County Judge Patrick C. Davis shows that there are 13 active cases in the county.

These reports show that from Nov. 4 to 10, 16 new cases were reported, bringing the in-county total to 1,189. No additional cases were reported Wednesday, Nov. 11 or Thursday, Nov. 12. Following the Department of State Health Services time estimation system, 1,166 have been deemed recovered. The number of COVID-19 deaths in the county remains at 10.

Just shy of two weeks out from Halloween, COVID-19 hospitalizations rose by 50 (0.6%) over the week of Nov. 5 to Nov. 12 In Trauma Service Area P, which includes Gonzales, hospitalizations from lab-confirmed COVID-19 made up 7% of all hospitalizations as of Thursday, Nov. 12, compared to 6.4% on Thursday, Nov. 5. This is still below the 15% threshold to have businesses remain at 75% operating capacity excepting bars, which are open at 50% capacity under this same policy from Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

Data from the week ending Nov. 8 gave a total of one new student case reported off campus in the Gonzales Independent School District, bringing the total of reported cases in the district since data collection began to 15. One new case was also reported in Nixon-Smiley Consolidated Independent School District, where a total of two cases have been reported in the district. One case has been reported in the Waelder Independent School District, although it’s unclear which DSHS reporting period it belongs to.
