County sales tax revenue up in February

Posted

The sales tax revenue total received by Gonzales County was up 1.09% in February, a slight increase over the previous year’s period. Year to date totals for the county are also slightly up in comparison to 2019.

Local entities in and around county also fared well in February with Gonzales, Nixon, Waelder, Smiley, Shiner and Luling all posting increases in the month. All but Smiley are positive in year to date totals thus far.

“Growth in state sales tax revenue was led by receipts from the retail trade and information services sectors, while receipts from the construction sector were down from a year ago,” Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar said. “Growth in tax receipts from retail trade was slightly boosted by collections from online marketplace providers and remote sellers.”
