County to host vaccination clinic Thursday

Posted

After weeks of planning and awaiting the arrival of more Moderna COVID-19 vaccine doses, Gonzales County, Gonzales Healthcare Systems and the Department of State Health Services are partnering to host a mass vaccination clinic on Thursday, Feb.4, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at J.B. Wells Park, Arena and Expo.

To get a vaccine at the clinic, patients must register ahead of time for an appointment. There will be no walk-up patients taken.

Those who qualify to receive their first dose of vaccine at this clinic will be in the 1A or 1B categories, with 1A being healthcare workers and long-term care facility residents, and 1B those 65 and older, as well as 16 and older with a health condition that increases the risk of severe cases of COVID-19, according to the DSHS.

Registration can be completed here, and links to necessary paperwork which can be filled out ahead of time are available on the Gonzales County Emergency Management Facebook page. The County has received 400 vaccines, and appointments are first-come first-served.

To receive information and alerts regarding vaccination efforts in the county, the Office of Emergency Management is asking those who would like to participate in such an event to sign up for its CodeRed alert system. Registration may be completed by texting GonzalesCoTX to 99411, calling 830-672-6209, downloading the CodeRed app, or using the signup link available on the office’s Facebook page.
