Deadline to submit election-related letters to the editor is noon Tuesday, Oct. 6


The Thursday, Oct. 8 edition of The Inquirer will be the last to publish letters specific to the Nov. 3 General Election. The Inquirer, per its published policy, does not run election letters once early-voting starts.

Election letters must be received at The Inquirer by noon on Tuesday, Oct. 6.  

The full policy on letter to the editors appears to the left. It is the same policy that is printed weekly on the Opinion page of the print and e-edition. 

Here is the section specific to elections:

"We will not publish political endorsement letters or those supporting or opposing specific candidates or parties during an election cycle; we will publish letters on issues before the voters. Endorsements should be displayed in political advertising. In light of this policy, we reserve the right to reject or edit letters for references to candidates and whether or not they should be elected. The Inquirer will accept letters expressing views on bond measures, constitutional amendments and other such issues. Letters will not be accepted once early voting has begun."

It is preferred that letters be submitted via e-mail or brought in on thumbdrive or SD card in an electronic "txt" or "doc" format. No jpgs, pdfs, or handwritten submission please, if possible.

All letters must include the writer’s street address or route address and telephone number, which will be used for verification purposes only.
