Domingo Gonzales,74, of Gonzales, peacefully passed away Thursday, January 23, 2025 lovingly surrounded by his family. He was born June 25, 1950 in Luling the son of Rodrigo and Francisca Gonzales.

Mingo, as he was known to all, was a carpenter by trade all his life and worked for Kelco Construction for 35 years. Mingo followed most sporting events but was an avid football and golf fan and never missed games or tournaments with his favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Longhorns and Alabama Crimson Tide or his favorite golfer Jordan Spieth. If he wasn’t watching sports, it was Gunsmoke or Andy Griffith with his loyal Chaweenie of 12 years, Molly, by his side. When the weather was nice, his favorite pastime was cooking steaks on the grill while listening to his favorite Tejano tunes and drinking a cold one.

He is survived by his wife Debra Rickman of Gonzales; daughters Angie Kessler of Gonzales and Stephanie Hyzak and husband Mike of Austin; grandchildren Katie Hyzak, Mason Kessler, Sophie Hyzak, Ryan Kessler and Matthew Hyzak; Step-children Michael Russell, Jeffery Russell, Kelly Strong and husband Ryan, Brett Southern and wife Shani and Kristi Southern along with numerous step-grandchildren; sister Adela Bernal of Luling;brothers Rodrigo Gonzales Jr. of Gonzales and Raymond Gonzales and wife Alice of Luling also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and special friends including his very special friend “Molly”.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Maria Moreno.

Honorary pallbearers include Mark Kelley, Bruddy Brown, Jesse Martinez, Mike Hyzak, Ryan Strong, Brett Southern, Ryan Kessler, Mason Kessler and Matthew Hyzak.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday February 6, 2025 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with the Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday February 7 at St. James Catholic Church with Reverend Jason Martini officiating. Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery.

Donations in memory of Mingo may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
