Donald (Donnie) Eugene Pritchard

Donald (Donnie) Eugene Pritchard, 76, of Flatonia, TX passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2022, in Schulenberg, TX. He was born on June 2, 1946 in Gonzales, TX to Sydney “Bud” Pritchard and Effie Cowey Pritchard. On June 1, 1996, he was united in marriage to Patty Robbins at Cistern Hall in Cistern, Texas.

After  graduating from Waelder High School, he joined the United States Navy in November of 1965. Donnie served in the Navy as a chef and his favorite quote was, “ I literally served my country.” After the Navy, he delivered meats for Hubbell & Sons and J & B Foods. The next chapter of his life was working for and retiring from Prototype Machine.

Donnie enjoyed bowling, golfing, and dancing. He loved to play board and card games with his family and friends, especially Wahoo. He spent his later years watching his favorite TV shows and spending countless hours with his beloved cat. He could always put a smile on someone’s face by telling one of his many jokes or singing a funny melody. He never met a stranger and would talk to anyone who would listen. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Eunice Englemann and Doris Vecera, one brother: William “Bubba” Pritchard. 

Donnie is survived by his wife of 26 years, Patty (Robbins) Pritchard; two daughters: Christina Pritchard Powell and Deondra Pritchard Gonzales; five sister-in-laws: Evelyn Pritchard, Barbara Dubois, Wanda Nolan, Linda (David) Duplissey, and Frances Rogers; seven grandchildren: Seth Weber and wife Tori Weber, Kailie Weber and boyfriend Corey Crouch, Jonathan Gonzales and fiancé Ana Solis, Cameron Powell, Jullissa Gonzales and fiancé Andrew Tavera, Jeshua Gonzales, and Jayvien Reyes; five great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and beloved cat: Sassy. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 10:00 AM. Both will be held at Smith Funeral Home – 128 E. 5th Street, Flatonia, TX 78941. 

Honorary pallbearers will be his seven grandchildren: Seth Weber, Kailie Weber, Jonathan Gonzales, Cameron Powell, Jullissa Gonzales, Jeshua Gonzales, and Jayvien Reyes. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: American Lung Association, Dementia Society of America, Leukemia Research Foundation, or charity of one’s choice.
