Current Occupation: Semi-retired, Investment Property

Previously elected to any office: I have not ever run for nor have been elected to any office. As others have all had a first time in office, this will be my first time as well, and I am looking forward to it. Confidence is not what others think about you, but more so what you know about yourself, and I am confident that I will be an asset for this community (the citizens and the city government).

Volunteer work or service in non-elected positions: Past Volunteer Long-term Care Ombudsman for the Texas Golden Crescent Area; Volunteer Vacation Bible School and Volunteer Sunday School Teacher for twelve plus years.

Early voting began Monday and continues through Dec. 3 for the Dec. 7 District 4 Gonzales City Council runoff election between Dan Blakemore and Ronda Miller.

Both candidates are vying to fill a vacancy left when Rob Brown resigned in July due to relocating to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex for business reasons. They were the top two votegetters in the Nov. 2 special election, with Blakemore receiving 134 total votes and Miller receiving 102 total votes.

Because no candidate received the required majority (50 percent plus one vote) of the 306 total votes cast —154 votes — the candidates with the top two vote totals advance to the runoff. Thomas Enriquez finished third in the Nov. 2 special election with 70 total votes.

Early voting for the Dec. 7 runoff election is being held by personal appearance at the Gonzales Municipal Building, 820 St. Joseph St., from Nov. 22-24 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; from Nov. 29-30 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and from Dec. 1-3 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Only qualified District 4 residents are eligible to vote.

Election day voting will be held from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Gonzales Municipal Building as well.

Between three to 11 days after the runoff election, the city council will hold a special meeting to canvass the runoff election vote and determine the official winner, at which time that individual could be seated on the council.
