Ellen LaVerne Ochs Siegmund Romines

Ellen LaVerne Ochs Siegmund Romines was born May 11, 1938 to Vernon Ochs and Etta Byrd Ochs in Waelder Texas. LaVerne gained her angel wings on Feb. 25, 2021 at the age of 82. She was a devoted Christian and read her Bible daily. She graduated from Waelder High School in May 1956. She attended Nixon Clay Business College in Austin, TX and graduated in 1960.

LaVerne married Ed Siegmund on April 20, 1959 and he passed away October 22, 1987. During their marriage they owned and operated several businesses which included Sprinkles Body Shop. LaVerne and Ed enjoyed traveling the United States supporting Eddie in his BMX career. She enjoyed traveling and loved to watch Eddie race. LaVerne married Bill Romines on Nov. 30, 2000 in Gonzales.

LaVerne Worked for Employees Retirement System for approximately 28 years and retired in 1997. After her retirement she returned to the Gonzales area. She was very active in the Republican Party, The Red Hat Society which she organized and The Thompsonville Ladies Club.

In 1999 while serving as President of the Thompsonville Ladies Club, she organized the first Thompsonville Ladies Club Chili Supper and Auction. The proceeds from this auction and all auctions are awarded to Gonzales County Students as scholarships. The Club has awarded approximately 150 scholarships. LaVerne always had a smile on her face and kind words for all. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Till we Meet Again.

LaVerne is survived by her loving family, husband: Bill Romines of Gonzales; children: Rhonda Siegmund Windwehen of Gonzales, Eddie Siegmund and wife, Amy, of Shreveport, La., Derek Siegmund and wife, Andrea, of Buda, Kenneth Baker and wife, Bea, of Stuttgart, Germany, and Roy Baker and wife, Silke, of Stuttgart, Germany. She is also survived by her brother: James Vernon (JV) and wife, Carolyn, of Flatonia, TX., nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021 in Seydler-Hill Funeral home. Graveside services will follow at 10 a.m. in Saturn Cemetery with Rev. Walter Killion officiating. Pallbearers: Eddie Siegmund, Derek Siegmund, Daryl Lehman, Zach Head, Dustin Ochs, and Charles Benner.

Due to current CDC, State and local mandates, protective measures regarding social distancing, limited attendance capacity, and use of personal protective masks will be required for the visitation and the graveside burial rite. Those remotely symptomatic of COVID-19 are politely asked not to attend. Services are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
