Emergency Management asking for survey responses

The Gonzales County Office of Emergency Management is seeking responses to a survey from the Texas Department of Emergency Management.

Emergency Management Coordinator Jimmy Harless said this survey is critical to getting Gonzales County termed a disaster area by the state. Such a designation would allow the county— and its residents— to receive disaster aid and supplies from the state and Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The survey is a self-reporting of any damage sustained by a home or business, for things like flooding from burst pipes, wind, and the winter weather experienced by the state this week. According to a Feb. 19 press release from the office of Texas Governor Greg Abbott, the Self Reporting Damage Survey is designed “to help the state identify damages across Texas and help emergency management officials gain an understanding of damages that occurred during the recent winter weather.”

Reporting damage through this survey is not a replacement for filing a claim with insurance providers.
