Even Domino’s Pizza in Gonzales couldn’t “avoid the Noid” of AI when it came to its Facebook page.
Franchisee Great State Pizza LLC, which operates the local restaurant at 1832 Water St., said the store’s Facebook page had been active since the store opened in August 2023, but was mistaken last week by Facebook’s AI software as an imposter page.
“We're in talks to have the page reinstated but it just takes time,” a representative for the Domino’s Gonzales Facebook page told the Inquirer. “As of now, we ask any fans of the Gonzales store to like and follow our franchise owners’ page for updates."
The page for Great State Pizza LLC, the franchisee, can be found at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61564135439644&mibextid=ZbWKwL.
Domino’s Gonzales general manager Chris Bonitz said, “This is a great opportunity for us to have another avenue to engage with the community. Until the Domino's Gonzales page is reinstated, we will be promoting any sales or manager's specials on the Great State Pizza page.
“We hope we gain plenty of followers quickly as we were hoping to announce our one-year anniversary celebration on the Facebook page," Bonitz added.
Domino’s advertising in the 1980s included a campaign in which the pizza restaurant urged patrons to “avoid the Noid,” a weird character clad in a red, skin-tight rabbit-eared body suit, emblazoned with a black N in a white circle, who was a physical embodiment of the challenges of delivering a pizza within the 30-minute window touted by Domino’s Pizza.
