Gonzales County Sheriff

Floyd Toliver (D)

Floyd Toliver wants to be your full-time sheriff. A lawman of nearly 30 years, Toliver is seeking the office of Gonzales County Sheriff by way of the Democratic primary.

Just as long as he has been in law enforcement, Toliver has lived in Gonzales County. He has extensive experience in the Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office working within the department for 26 years. Upon retirement from the GCSO in 2016, Toliver took up the mantle of the chief of police for the city of Nixon. He served as Nixon police chief for over two years before resigning in good standing last February. Together with Debbie, his wife of 18 years, they have a total of four children and six more grandchildren across the county, state and nation.

Family is important to Toliver, just as loyalty to his friends and job are as well.

“My belief is that the sheriff’s office should be helping everybody, not just one-sided, or the richer the better or the poorer the worse. Treat everybody the same,” Toliver said.

Toliver’s substantial experience in the sheriff’s office and desire to see things change drove him to pursue the seat.

Under Sheriff Toliver, he promises to be around full-time, adopt an open-door policy, patrol all county roads and make sure all calls for service are responded to. Toliver said he wants the agency to be top-to-bottom more proactive.

“I respectfully ask you the good citizens of Gonzales County for your vote and support in this campaign to become your next sheriff,” Toliver said. “I will continue to serve and protect you.”

Anyone with further questions is encouraged to reach out to Toliver at 830-263-2920.
