FOOTBALL: Apache junior high football squads clash with Jarrell

The Gonzales Apaches 8th A Team beat Jarrell, 52-28, on Thursday, Sept. 23.

David Clack scored a career high six rushing touchdowns. The touchdowns were from 22, 12, 3, 8, 14 and 62 yards out. He also added three two-point runs. Travis Malveaux scored a two-yard rushing touchdown.

Martin Cantu added two two-point conversions. Brandon Dubose had an interception defensively the defense was led by William Lippert, Marcos Izaguirre and Martin Cantu. Their record is now 1-1-1.

The Apaches 7th Grade A team beat Jarrell, 38-20. Keath White was offensive player of the game. He scored two rushing touchdowns from 34 and 32 yards out. James Sanchez added to the scoring with a 54-yard punt return for a touchdown. He also scored two two-point conversions.

Luis Zuniga scored a two-yard touchdown run and also added a two-point conversion. Christian Garcia scored a 13yd touchdown run Darrian Cardoza converted the two-point conversion. Damian Hunt and Maricio Cruz both had interceptions in a strong defensive display led by Sergio Barajas, Luis Zuniga, and Christian Garcia. Their record is now 1-1-1.

The Apaches 7th Grade B Team lost a close game, 12-6. John Rios was offensive player of the game as he scored a two-yard rushing touchdown. Ryan Dunkle helped add a couple good runs. On defense, Brandon Duenez was a key stopper limiting the opposing team’s offense.
