Fr. Ryan Kapavik was recently honored at a dinner hosted by the Diocese of Victoria. He was named the 2024 Distinguished Alumni for Shiner Catholic School.

Fr. Ryan Kapavik is a 2013 graduate of St. Paul High School and from a young age, Fr. Ryan set the bar high in his example of serving others and living a Christ-centered life. He attended the University of Dallas and then went on to attend St. Joseph Seminary College in Louisiana, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy in 2018.

After graduating from St. Joseph Seminary, Fr. Ryan earned his Master of Divinity from the University of St. Thomas in 2023 and was ordained to the priesthood in 2023. Fr. Ryan is currently the parochial vicar of Holy Family of Joseph, Mary, and Jesus Catholic Church in Victoria and the chaplain to the Victoria Police Department.

Fr. Ryan Kapavik holds a very special legacy at Shiner Catholic School. There have been many priests that have come out of Shiner but since St. Paul opened its doors in 1963, separating from St. Ludmila Academy which was established in 1897, Fr. Ryan is the first St. Paul graduate to become a priest.

Fr. Ryan is a living example of our school’s mission which is “Preparing the Children of God for the Kingdom of God” and it is a true honor to have presented him with the 2024 Distinguished Alumni Award for Shiner Catholic School.
