Gabina Mendez Perez

Gabina Mendez Perez, age 77, of Smiley, Texas passed away on Sunday, Oct. 8, at Gonzales Memorial Hospital in Gonzales, Texas.

Funeral mass is under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Gonzales, Texas and will be held on Thursday, Oct.12, at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gonzales, Texas with Father Paul Raaz officiating. Burial will follow at Saint James Catholic Cemetery in Gonzales, Texas. A rosary was recited on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. at Buffington Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Alfonso Moreno officiating. Visitation was on Wednesday, Oct. 11, from 1 p.m. until the rosary.

Gabina was born February 19, 1940 in Delores Hidalgo, GTO, Mexico. She was the daughter of Stevan and Ramona (Torres) Mendez. She married Juan Perez Ramirez who has passed before her. She worked as an egg gatherer for a chicken farm. Gabina liked to crochet and play the Lottery Scratch Off games. She enjoyed parties and cooking for everyone. She relaxed by caring for her flower garden, and traveling to Mexico. Gabina was always on-the-go doing whatever. Gabina Loved her family and friends.

Gabina is survived by nine sons; Fidel Perez and his wife, Delfina of Mexico, Mario Perez and his wife, Galdina of Mexico, Hector Perez and his wife, Lucia of Smiley, Texas, Angel Perez and his wife, Irene of Gonzales, Texas, Sebastian Perez and his wife, Alma of Smiley, Texas, Guadalupe Perez and his wife, Magarita of Cost, Texas, Reyes Perez of Smiley, Texas, Ramon Perez and his wife, Teresa of Houston, Texas, Juan Angel Perez and his wife, Juana of Mexico, one daughter; Maria Fabiola Tovar and her husband, Valeriano of Nixon, Texas, six brothers; Conseption Perez and his wife, Bacilia of Mexico, Jose Perez and his wife, Luisa of Mexico, Juan Perez and his wife, Antonia of Mexico, Jesus Perez and his wife, Virjinia of Mexico, Luis Perez and his wife, Carmela of Mexico, Lucho Perez of Mexico,two sisters; Rosa Garcia and her husband, Santiago of Mexico, Loordes Mendez and her husband, Raymundo, of Mexico, 24 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Gabina was preceded in death by her parents; Stevan and Ramona Mendez, her husband; Juan Perez Ramirez, two sons; Isidro Perez, Margarito Perez, and one grandson; Mark Anthony Perez.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Perez will be; Valeriano Tovar, Reyes Perez, Ramon Perez, Guadalupe Perez, Socorro Barron, Sebastian Perez, Giovanni Perez, Jose Torres. Honorary Pallbearers will be; San Juan Perez and Oscar Perez.
