The Gonzales County Health Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to announce a recent donation to the Gonzales Healthcare Systems Foundation in the amount of $40,000.

A portion of this donation, $5,000, was provided to the GHS Foundation’s Lights of Love giving campaign, in honor of Gonzales Healthcare Systems’ staff. This event is held each holiday season, for businesses and individuals to honor and remember those most important in their lives.

The remaining funds, $35,000, was provided to the GHS Foundation’s spring event — Dueling Pianos Gala. This gala will be raising funds for needed projects and equipment within the hospital system.

The Gonzales County Health Foundation was established in 1983, under the leadership of Dr. Bryan Denman, to assist the hospital district in providing quality healthcare to Gonzales County residents. Dr. Walter A. Sievers contributed several million dollars, and part of his life estate, to the County Health Foundation to ensure that Gonzales County residents had quality healthcare facilities for years to come. A portion of his funds were earmarked for the Sievers Medical Clinic. Walter and Sue Traeger also donated to the County Health Foundation as well.

The Gonzales County Health Foundation Board of Directors manages the assets of the Health Foundation. The board is comprised of local community leaders; President Sue Ortman, Vice-President John Mohrmann, Treasurer Darren Schauer, Secretary Dr. Terry Eska, and members Ricky Lester, Dr. Humberto Rivas, Greg McLain, Bryan Denman, Mark Lindemann, Tim Markham, and Greg Tieken.
