The Gonzales ISD School Board of Trustees named Ramon Parker as the new head band director at Gonzales High School during the regularly scheduled December board meeting.

Parker brings 14 years of experience as a music educator to his new role. He has a proven history of motivating and inspiring students to achieve more than they imagined through music and relationship-building.

“The Gonzales ISD Mighty Apache band program has a long history of rich tradition and success. When the beat hits, synergy happens — and our community lives it through rhythm, melody, and harmony,” Dr. Avellaneda said. “It was extremely important that we continue to live up to that expectation, which is why we conducted a thorough search to find the best candidate for Gonzales ISD. During the interview process, Mr. Parker proved to be an excellent musician and has built a reputation for developing, managing, and growing successful programs while keeping the focus on student success.”

Prior to joining Gonzales ISD, Parker served as the head band director in Springdale Public Schools, director of bands in Mabank ISD, director of bands in La Grange ISD, and has also worked at Winona High School, Elgin High School, Gonzales High School, Rogers High School, Tatum High School, Brazosport High School, and Northwestern State University.

"I am excited about this opportunity and cannot wait to get started. Gonzales is a truly special place and I am very privileged to rejoin the Apache Family," Ramon Parker said.
As a leader in his field, Parker won Best in Class 4A Band, Percussion, and Brass at the Bastrop Marching Festival while with the Gonzales ISD Mighty Apache Band in 2014.
He received his bachelor’s degree in music from Texas State University and his master’s from Northwestern State University.
