The Gonzales ISD posted to its web site (https://www.gonzalesisd.net) that a second student at the high school has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the district, the case is not related to the first case reported Wednesday night, which was also a student at the high school.

The district says it is reaching out to those who were in close contact with both students.

Here is the statement from the web site:

Late yesterday afternoon, Thursday, October 8, 2020, GISD learned that we have another positive case of COVID-19. The person is a student at Gonzales High School. The student was last on campus on Tuesday, October 6, 2020. This case is in NO relation to the case reported yesterday. The district is making contact with those who came into “close contact” with the student.

As you may be aware, there are strict guidelines that prohibit District personnel from providing confidential information about the health conditions of a student. For the privacy and dignity of those involved, we cannot disclose further information. However, the high school staff members have taken precautions to disinfect as directed, and all staff members on the campus continue to follow the safety protocols to protect the health and safety of everyone at school. If you have any questions, please contact your doctor.

We will continue to work with our district staff members, parents and students to keep everyone healthy and safe. If your child is ill or being tested for COVID-19, please notify your campus office and campus nurse. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
