Gonzales Art Group issues call for Come and Take It show

The Gonzales Art Group has issued a call for artists to take part in the annual Come and Take It art show, to be held Oct. 1-3 at the Crystal Theatre in Gonzales.

The show will open from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1. The show will also be open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3.

Copies of the guidelines for entries will also be available at the schools’ offices, the Gonzales Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture office, Frames and Things, or on the Gonzales Facebook page.

The categories for the entries are: Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Pastel/Charcoal, Pencil/Pen and Ink, Sculpture/Pottery/ Stained Glass, Mixed Media, Alternative Arts, Photography and fiber arts.

All work must be original, not from a kit. No nude or obscene work will be accepted for exhibition from adults or students.

The fees for each entry are $5 for non-members and $4 for members, and students are $1. There is a limit of no more than eight total pieces of art, with not more than three in any one category. All entries will be accepted 2 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at the Crystal Theatre.

The Gonzales Art Group is looking for all available artists to display their works. Parents, show off your young ones’ talents and bring your works in as well. Stop by the neighbors, grandparents and other relative’s houses on the way to pick up their artwork too! This non-profit organization welcomes everyone, whether you’re from here or somewhere else. They love art and would like to show your art too! This is a family friendly event and the Gonzales Art Group wants everyone represented.

Ribbons will be awarded in each category. Best of Show will be awarded for students, as well as adults.

Be sure to vote for your personal favorites at the show. The votes will be tallied for the People’s Choice Awards that will be announced on Sunday after 4:30 p.m.

There will be a wide assortment of art and gifts available to bid on at the silent auction at the art show. There might be the perfect painting, art books, gifts, etc. that will get your holiday shopping taken care of. The silent auction will close at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
