Gonzales County reports 17 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday

According to data distributed by the Department of State Health Services, Gonzales County has now risen to a total of 757 cases in the county, with 25 being active.

The count of new cases reported on Tuesday was 17, in keeping with recent trends of alternating low and medium count days. On Monday, five new cases were reported, 13 on Friday, four on Thursday, 15 on Wednesday and a single new case of coronavirus was reported Tuesday, Aug. 11. Combined, the total of reported cases from Aug. 11 to 19 is 55.

As of Tuesday, there are 724 cases determined to have recovered by the DSHS, which is now using a time-estimate-based system rather than direct monitoring of cases to determine this figure.

Common symptoms of the coronavirus according to the CDC include:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea
