Gonzales County reports 27 new cases Tuesday

As reported cases of coronavirus continue to climb in Gonzales County, 27 new reports were added to the total on Tuesday, bringing the count of total cases to 615, with 69 of them being active.

According to the Texas Department of State Health Services’ estimation, there are 540 recovered cases in the county, with 6 documented deaths.

DSHS data places the last fatality occurring in Gonzales County from coronavirus at July 14, just under two weeks previous. This data also shows larger and more consistent increases in the latter half of June and all of July, compared to April and May. In the last week alone, 163 new cases have been reported.

Data from Gonzales County Emergency Management differs based on the timing when information is received. However, this data indicates that as far as recovered cases, 184 of them are in Gonzales, 91 in Waelder, 29 in Nixon, 20 in Smiley, 16 in Harwood, 4 in Cost, 9 in Shiner, 61 in unincorporated areas within the county, and 5 recovered cases are in unknown locations.

Three of the six fatalities within the county were in Gonzales, one in Waelder, one in Nixon and one in an unincorporated area.
