7th grade A

The Gonzales 7th grade A team beat Giddings, 24-8. Keath White Jr. was offensive player of the game and scored all three Apache touchdowns. He scored on runs of four and 59 yards. He also had an 83-yard kickoff return for touchdown.

Luis Zuniga scored a two-point run twice and had several good runs, while James Sanchez also scored a two-point run. The offensive line, Bryce Eleby, Landon Atkinson, Jeshwa Zavala, Eduardo Salazar, and Sergio Barajas did a good job blocking.

Luis Zuniga and Keath White Jr. were defensive players of the game, making several tackles all night. Bryce Nichols and Tommy Barnes did a good job on defense. Their record is now 2-2-1 on the season.

8th grade A

The Gonzales 8th grade A team beat Giddings, 44-30. David Clack scored five rushing touchdowns on the runs of 18, 1, 2, 54, and 43 yards. He also added a two-point run twice.

Travis Malveaux scored a six-yard rushing touchdown. He had several good runs and threw the ball very well. Martin Cantu and Lanom Rhoades each had several good runs all night.

Martin Cantu had a nice catch from Travis Malveaux right before half to set up the Apaches’ third touchdown of the night. Brandon Dubose had a key interception on the night.

The defensive line were players of the game. They were Gary Lewis, William Lippert, Isaiah Balderas, and Michael Castillo. David Clack and Lanom Rhoades had several good tackles. Their record is now 2-1-2 on the season.

8th grade B

The Gonzales 8th Grade B team lost a tough game, coming up short, 12-6. Hagan Brown ran in the team’s only touchdown from 12 yards out. This is the first time in two years the 8th grade B team has scored a touchdown. Defensively, Cody Hall and Emilio Alamadore combined for a team-high 12 tackles.

Volleyball

8th grade A

On Thursday, October 7, the Gonzales Lady Apache 8th Grade A Team played the Gobblers in Cuero, Texas. The Lady Apaches played three sets and came out with the win.

Top offensive players were Isabella Ikard and Maddie Blackwell. Ava Carrizales and Hailey Camarillo played a great defensive game in the back row. Joelee Lester sealed the win with 31 total points at the serving line. The Apache’s A team’s record is now 5-5. Great teamwork, keep progressing, and good luck next week!

8th grade B

The Lady Apache 8th grade B Team traveled to La Vernia last night, and took a tough loss. The Lady Apaches fought hard defensivelyk, but came up short this time. There were some great offensive plays made by Nora Koch and McKenzie Gillette, with some awesome sets performed by Paige.

Defensively in the back row, they had several players shine on the court. Keaton and Reagan Barfield showed some defensive moves on the court. Good luck to the Lady Apaches on their next game and keep progressing each day!
