Gonzales Little League receives deadline from city council

The Gonzales City Council gave a hard deadline for the Gonzales Little League to share an appropriate financial report and proof of insurance at their meeting on Thursday, April 8.

Having received a report of financials from the Little League, the council decided tothat the documents were not sufficient and will require the league to share a complete financial report and proof of insurance by Thursday, April 15, in order to execute an agreement license for use of the city’s little league fields.

The council also directed City Manager Tim Patek to open the city’s pool in June, and made appointments to the city’s Council District Redistricting Commission.

Each council member made an appointment from their district to the Commission, which will help determine whether the council district boundaries need to be adjusted based on 2020 Census data. This commission will be working with the firm Denton, Navarro, Rocha, Bernal, & Zech PC as well as Doucet & Associates for the purpose of redistricting.

In other business:

  • Mayor Connie Kacir issued declarations for April as Fair Housing Month, National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, and Volunteer Month.
  • The council received and discussed presentations regarding the Comperhensive Annual Financial Report for the 2020 fiscal year, as well as an update on the rate study being conducted for Electric, Water and Wastewater by NewGen Strategies and Solutions.
  • Council approved the consent agenda which included minutes from meetings held March 11 and 15, awarding an engineering services contract for the Main Street CDBG sidewalk grant to Doucet & Associates. It also approved the use of city streets, city property and the sale and consumption of alcohol on city property for the Come and Take It Celebration to be held Oct. 1 through 3.
  • The council received a financial report for March 2021 and an update on a COVID-19 relief grant from City Finance Director Laura Zella, and multiple city projects from City Manager Tim Patek.
