Gonzales man killed in hit and run

A hit and run on Highway 90A killed a Gonzales man on Thursday, Oct. 17. According to a Texas Department of Public Safety report, the incident occurred at 3:27 p.m.

The report stated that Marcelina Acosta Sandria, 49-year-old from Gonzales, was traveling east on U.S. Highway 90A in a maroon 2003 Honda Odyssey. William Henry Ahlstrom Jr., 80-year-old from Gonzales, was standing on the shoulder next to an unoccupied golf cart.

According to the report, Sandria crossed the highway’s right solid white line and struck Ahlstrom Jr. Sandria then fled the crash site. Ahlstrom Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sandria was found at a residence 4.6 miles away and was subsequently arrested by DPS trooper Ronald Holub. She is charged with one count of failure to stop and render aid, which resulted in death, one count of no driver license and one count of failure to drive in a single lane.
