Grand entrance planned for new ESD ambulances

Posted

On Tuesday, April 28, the Gonzales County Emergency Services District (ESD) #1 will be bringing four new ambulances to Gonzales from the factory in Houston. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ESD is altering their plans to celebrate the grand entrance of the ambulances into the county.

The public is invited to watch the new ambulances drive around the city Tuesday afternoon, scheduled around 3:30 p.m. ESD asks the public to greet the EMTs and paramedics as they drive their new units into the town. The district asks onlookers and well wishers to please observe the proper social distancing along the way.

The route will be as follows:

The ambulances will come into Gonzales from the northeast on State Highway 97 (by the Valero/Circle K). They will turn west onto Sarah DeWitt Dr., which they will follow to St. Joseph St. They will turn south on St. Joseph and proceed to downtown Gonzales where they will turn east onto St. George, then right on St. Paul, and right on St. Lawrence, passing by the Old Jail Museum and the Gonzales Fire Dept. and circling Confederate Square. The procession will then cross St. Joseph St. and circle Independence Square, turning left onto St. James, then left onto St. Louis. The ambulances will be positioned in front of the Gonzales County Courthouse for pictures and a brief statement by County Judge Patrick Davis.

Citizens are encouraged to spread out along the route, rather than congregate at the courthouse. Those who are at the courthouse are asked to remain within their vehicles. The ambulances will be best viewed along the westbound lanes of Sarah DeWitt Dr., along St. Joseph St., and from either of the town Squares. Please come out and safely and responsibly show your support, once again, for your EMS.
