Guadalupe “Wally” Vara, 76, passed away on Dec. 13, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas. Wally was born on Nov. 15, 1944 in Gonzales, Texas to Refugio Vara Sr. and Maria Luna.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years: Martha “Marty” Coy; daughters: Kathleen Rodriguez, Cynthia Miller (Eric), Diana Roach (Dwayne), Barbara Jean (Jeremy); sons: Andrew Vara (Paul), Guadalupe Vara, Jr. (Martha); sisters: Gloria Martinez, Adella Sauceda, Adelia “Pee Wee” Stapleton; brothers: Daniel Nunez (Barbara), Ernest Luna (Robyn), Freddy Luna (Mary), Raul Vara (Elvia), David Arrellano, Donald Arrellano, Steven Arrellano; 22 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Wally spent 30-plus years working as a hair stylist in San Antonio. He enjoyed every sport: basketball (GO SPURS!!!), football, (Dallas Cowboys), San Antonio Missions, and of course remote controlling daily with Jerry Springer. And let’s not forget wrestling. He had to watch wrestling.

No matter where you knew Wally from, there were a lot of jokes and laughter. He even married Marty on April Fool’s Day, Vegas style (and that’s no kidding). Wally loved his pets: Schwinn, Lucy, Lady, Paint, Rudy, Teddy and of course, Sonny, aka Handsome.

Wally’s goal was to make people smile and laugh. Wally loved his children, grandchildren and felt blessed by the many great grand children.
