Gustavo Angel Velazquez, 24, of Gonzales, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022. He was born August 3, 1997 to Gaspar Velazquez and Patricia Vazquez. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Gustavo was born in Dolores Hidalgo Guanajuato, Mexico. His parents brought him to Gonzales Tx at the age of 3 years old, which is where he attended school. He loved going to school and participating in Special Olympics, he won quite a few medals. In school he was always in the hallway or going into his big brother’s classroom just to say hi.

He graduated from Gonzales High School with the Class of 2015. After High School Gustavo attended Bluebonnet Trails for some time. He really enjoyed his bowling times with them. At home he loved playing Mario Kart with his sister and niece and pool with his big brother. One thing about Gustavo is he loved playing pool, he enjoyed going to the Running M Bar and Templin Saloon to play some pool. He enjoyed going to the soccer games every weekend as well, as soon as he got there, he would go around the soccer field to try to say hi to everyone. Always getting mad at the referee for making bad calls and at his team’s players for making a bad play. He loved rubbing in his dad’s face that he went for the team “America” and his dad went for the rival “Las Chivas”.

Gustavo was a “momma’s boy” and was always with his mom mostly everywhere he went. He was always telling his family that he loved them, and he loved giving hugs. Gustavo was a sweet and outgoing young man, always saying hi to people even if he didn’t know them. He had his moments where he would get mad, but he wouldn’t hold grudges. He was dearly loved by a lot of people. He loved his niece and nephews so very much, and he was always asking for them and playing with them. At all the family barbecues he could make you laugh and always wanted to know what was going on and how everyone was doing. He called people constantly to check up on them. He loved visiting his birthplace in Mexico where he was also very loved by everyone. He would go visit every house in his town as soon as he got there which would take him a couple days, but he did it anyway. He was a great human being and will be missed by all who knew him.

Gustavo is survived by his loving family; parents, Gaspar Velazquez and Patricia Vazquez, sisters, Karina Velazquez “Eriberto Hernandez”, Jennifer Velazquez, brother, Juan David Velazquez “Ani Vazquez” all of Gonzales, niece, Katy Elizabeth Gonzales, and nephews, Ayden Hernandez, Lucas Velazquez, and Ander Gaspar Hernandez and a host of friends.
