Happy Apache Academy awards scholarships to staff

Happy Apache Academy owners Amanda and James Barrie have made three members of their staff very happy Apaches by giving them scholarships to continue their education.

The Barries presented certificates and checks to Kainah Cranfill, Merissa Guerrero and Amy Rodriguez on Friday, May 6, at the day care, 1600 N. Sarah DeWitt, Suite 200, Gonzales.

The three staff members were selected through an application and essay submission process, Amanda Barrie said.

“Offering scholarships to our employees is a way for us to show our appreciation for their dedication and loyalty to Happy Apache Academy,” Amanda Barrie said. “We recognize their passion for teaching and serving the smallest citizens of Gonzales and we want to recognize them for that.

“It's also a way for us to give back to the community. These ladies will complete their education and start careers locally, all in areas that there's a desperate need for.”

The three are interested in career paths that include teacher, principal and animal rescue.

“With this degree, I plan on opening a pet boarding center as well as an animal rescue,” Cranfill said.

“I want to be able to shape future generations with knowledge and compassion towards one another,” Guerrero said.

"With my intended career path, I want to help teachers become strong leaders and stand with them as they face challenges both inside and outside the classroom," Rodriguez said.
