Heat advisory issued this afternoon for region

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for counties along as well as east of the IH-35 and IH-37 corridors from 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2020 to 7 p.m. on Friday, August 14.

“A Heat Advisory is in effect for areas along and east of I-35/I-37 corridors from 1 PM today until 7 PM Friday. Highs of 100 to 106 and heat index values of up to 111 can be expected today and again on Friday. It will remain warm and muggy tonight.”

“As the heat builds, remember to practice heat safety. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids. Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning. Limit strenuous outdoor activities. Check up on children, the elderly, the sick, and those without air conditioning. NEVER leave young children and pets unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.”
