Holiday hours, trash pickup changes

As the holidays approach, some city offices and services will be closed or running on alternate schedules.

Trash pickup in Gonzales for Thursday, Dec. 24 and Dec. 31 will run as scheduled, with pickup on Friday, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 being done the following Saturdays. The Gonzales Municipal Building will be closed Thursday, Dec. 24, Friday, Dec. 25 and Friday, Jan. 1.

In Nixon, trash pickup will run normally except Friday, Dec. 25 and Friday, Jan. 1. These Friday pickups will be made the following Saturdays, and normal pickup will resume Jan. 4. City hall will be closed Friday, Dec. 25 and Friday, Jan. 1.

Smiley City Hall will remain closed to the public, as it was closed at the beginning of the month due to safety concerns surrounding COVID-19 in the area. It will remain in operation with exceptions for Thursday, Dec. 24 and Thursday, Dec. 31 when it closes for business at 12 p.m., and will be closed Friday, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Trash pickup will be unaltered for the holidays.

Waelder City Hall will close Wednesday, Dec. 23 at 12 p.m., and remain closed through Dec. 24 and 25. Trash pickup will remain on the same schedule.
