Do you love writing about sports?

The Gonzales Inquirer is seeking freelance sports writers to assist in our print and digital coverage of high school sports for Nixon-Smiley and Waelder. Coverage will run the gamut from football to volleyball to cross country for the fall semester.

We're looking for writers who can provide a concise and accurate report promptly after the end of a game, as well as updates during the game. Opportunity exists for a  more in-depth report and analysis for the weekly print and e-edition.

Knowledge of sports terminology and rules is required. Previous writing experience is preferred, but not required. Photography experience is also preferred, but not required. Social media skills is required, especially for Facebook. Interest in doing live feeds and short video is a plus.

This is an opportunity for ongoing work throughout the year. Pay is per game or per feature story. Please provide information on your experience, availability, and several writing samples via e-mail to Publisher Steve Fountain at publisher@gonzalesinquirer.com
