Janice Gayle Schieberle, an avid gardener and loving mother, grandmother and soon-to-be great grandmother, passed away on July 15th, 2019 at the age of 82. She was born on December 25, 1936 (a Christmas baby) in Wrightsboro, Texas to Inez Quinney Iley and Bev Wesley Iley and was the oldest of two children.

Janice is survived by her three, loving daughters, Gay Lisa Davison (Bob) of Seguin, Amy Dawn Thibodeaux (Chris) of Gonzales, and Loy Beth Weathersby (Rick) of Schertz; her eight beautiful grandchildren, Zanice Cadie Koch (Travis), Hayley Teegyn Davison, Sadie Beatrice Thibodeaux, Destin Marie Weathersby, Bailey Ann Weathersby, Travis Oren Thibodeaux, Austin Engler (A.E.) Weathersby, and Audrey Taylor Thibodeaux; and one great grandchild on the way, baby Koch!

Janice was preceded in death by her husband Arnold Ernest (A.E./Sonny) Schieberle; her brother, Glen Iley; and her parents, Inez Quinney Iley, and Bev Wesley Iley.

Born and raised in Gonzales, Texas, Janice was a fantastic athlete. She played basketball, tennis, and was the head cheerleader. After graduating from Gonzales High School, she graduated from Steven F. Austin in Nachodoches and then attended Southwest Texas University where she earned her teaching certificate. She was best known as a Gonzales P.E. coach from 1959 to 1972. She also worked as a mail carrier, census worker, and a realtor at ERA School Craft Realty in Seguin.

Janice loved to garden and tend to her plants! She had an awesome green thumb and was very proud of her tomatoes, peppers, okra and trees she planted! She always shared her produce and gardened up to her last days. She was very generous and always wanted to ensure that others were feeling well and well taken care of. She enjoyed everyone at her assisted living, the Romberg House, and they commented about how she was always smiling and in a good mood! Even if she wasn’t in a good mood, you could always cheer her up by bringing her some Whataburger onion rings! There was never a dull moment when she was around. She continually shared her stories and opinions about her ancestors, politics, the news, etc. She also loved shopping at the malls and out of her magazines! When she wasn’t gardening or shopping, she was watching her favorite TV channel, Fox News. She has touched many lives and will truly be missed by many.

We will celebrate her life with a memorial service at Monthalia United Methodist Church in Cost, Texas on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 10:00AM. Friends may leave their condolences by visiting www.seydlerhillfuneralhome.com. Arrangements were under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
