Jimmy Wayne Zella, 51, of Gonzales, passed away Friday, July 8, 2022. Jimmy was born July 23, 1970 in Gonzales to Robert and Patricia Chapman Zella.

Jimmy was born and raised in Gonzales. He worked alongside his dad and brother working cattle and performing his daily chores like cubing cattle, putting hay down for cattle and horses, tending to the cow dogs, mending fences, fixing gates and a host of chores far too many to mention. He was active in FFA in high school and enjoyed moments reveling with his classmates in town. His quiet time was spent hunting deer and fishing the lakes ponds and rivers of Gonzales.

After graduating from GHS, Jimmy worked fulltime driving trucks for Sunset Livestock and Kenny Hyden Trucking. He worked for JGI Outdoor Advertising before moving to Mikes Construction now Werner Materials.  Jimmy was an old school American man; hardworking, honest, loyal, and respectful. Certainly, all values he learned at home. He was a reflection of his father with core values of a good man, a man with integrity and grit.

Jimmy could be a goofball, a fun-loving jokester that brought smiles to many faces. He had moments of stubbornness, but generally life was a party to Jimmy. His greatest joy and finest treasure in life, was being the father to his beautiful, loving daughter Maddy or “Peanut” as he affectionately called her. Jimmy knew firsthand that the only thing better than a daddy’s girl is being her hero every day. Jimmy understood the power of love as described in Corinthians’ “Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” His love for Maddy, his “Peanut” lives on today and always.

Jimmy Wayne Zella is survived by his loving family: beloved daughter, Maddysyn Renay Zella, father, Robert Zella (Marilyn Musick), brother and sister-in-law, Brad Lynn Zella and Stacy all of Gonzales, nieces, Megan Zella of Seguin, Kate Zella of Gonzales and great-nephew, Bryson Zella of Gonzales. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Zella.
