Joe Guevara, Jr.

Posted

Joe Guevara, Jr., known as “Little Joe” in Texas and “Jay” in Louisiana, was born October 4, 1985, to Joe Guevara, Sr. and Teresa Guevara, who adored him with all of their hearts. Little Joe was in a tragic accident on April 13, 2021 in the Gulf of Mexico.

Little Joe was raised in Gonzales, Texas, his entire childhood. Shortly after his high school graduation, he moved to Louisiana, where his career began as an assistant diesel mechanic. He worked alongside his brother-in-law, Guy Higginbotham, for Hick’s Construction and Guy Hick Trucking. He then went on to work for Essie Corporation, and lastly for Cardinal Coil Tubing as a service technician.

Little Joe’s passion for music started at the early age of 4 when he and his dad, Joe, Sr., began creating tunes together. His soul connected with Tejano and Conjunto music, and he began singing, dancing, and entertaining. Little Joe learned on his own how to play the piano and the keyboard, and that is when his passion became even more remarkable. His love for playing music took a turn when he moved to Louisiana, and he began to play Cajun/Zydeco-music, playing with his bussies at festivals and local clubs.

Little Joe was a diehard Texas Longhorns and New Orleans Saints fan. He also loved entertaining, joking, and dancing, while grilling and BBQ’n in his spare time. Most notably, Little Joe was a man of integrity and honor, and he took so much pride in his family; His famous saying was even “Family Over Everything”. Family and friends will always remember his musical spirit and his contagious laughter, and he will live in us all forever.

Little Joe is survived by his mother, Teresa Guevara. Daughter, Kenzie Guevara, Summer Hollier (mother of Kenzie), son, Beckhym Guevara, Krista Vercher (mother of Beckhym), her sons, Graesyn Broussard and Khylan Theriot, sisters, Susie Noyola and husband Charlie, Cindy Higginbotham-Kresta and husband Ronnie, along with several nieces (Georgia Longoria, Karly Noyola) and nephews (Josh Noyola, Tanner, Trent, and Trace Higginbotham), great nieces, Kayle and Kaislyn Molnoskey, and nephews Connor Molnoskey and Braxson Higginbotham; he treated them all like his very own.

Little Joe is reunited with his father, Joe Guevara, Sr., who passed away on March 29, 2019.
