John A. Hermann, 74, was called to his heavenly home on July 10, 2021. John was born on June 18, 1947 in Gonzalez, Texas to Ina and Alfred Hermann.
The Hermann family lived in Gonzales, Texas until John’s junior year of high school when they packed up and moved to Brenham. John graduated from Brenham High School and Blinn College. He served in the Army National Guard and was stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana before being transferred to Fort Louis, Washington.
Upon his return in 1968, he married Patsy Lesser at First Baptist Church, Brenham, and on June 29, 2021, they celebrated 53 years together. In 1970 their daughter, Jennifer Jean Hermann, was born and John and Patsy were always very proud of her.
John is preceded in death by his parents: Alfred and Ina Hermann; his maternal and paternal grandparents; his father-in-law: Abie Lesser, Jr.; his sister; Beverly Hermann; and his nephew: Alfred Hermann, III (Trey).
John is survived by his loving wife: Patsy Hermann; their daughter: Jennifer Hermann and her love, David Vasquez; his mother-in-law: Dorothy Lesser of Brenham; his brother: Alfred Knolle Hermann and his wife, Alice, of Gonzales; along with John’s favorite little furry friend: Zoe Frito; and many extended family and friends.
He was an active member of Brenham First Baptist church where he served for many years as head of the Audio Visual Ministry and also Deacon of the church. He also served as long time director of Crossroads Bank in Yoakum, Texas.
John was a savvy business and the ultimate family man. His cornerstones were God, family and community and he lived that out every day. He was generous with his time and support in the church, community and with his beloved family. John never met a stranger. His smile and sense of humor will be forever missed and remembered.
The City of Brenham honored him in 2014 naming May 15 “John Hermann Day” for his 50 years at Hermann Furniture.
The funeral service for John is Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Brenham’s First Baptist Church with the burial at Prairie Lea Cemetery.
