John "Jack" Frederick Lloyd

John "Jack" Frederick Lloyd, 89, of Gonzales, died Sunday, March 13, 2022 at Gonzales Healthcare in Gonzales.  A longtime resident of Gonzales, Jack was a retired high school football coach after many faithful years with Dobie High School.  Jack proudly served his country in The United States Army.

Jack could be found working in his garden almost year round, and was always eager to share any tips or harvest with visitors. If you were especially lucky, you got a jar of pickles. He was a devoted son, brother, father, uncle and grandfather. He was a loving friend and his impact on those who knew him will live on.  Jack's quick wit was on full display at coffee time, where he loved telling or hearing a great story. Jack enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and family, and was most content outdoors. 

Jack was a faithful member of St. James Catholic Church. He attended weekly and found great joy and comfort in his faith and Catholic community. 

A Mass of Christian Burial was Celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 18th, at St. James Catholic Church in Gonzales, burial followed at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Gonzales.  A Gathering of Family and Friends was held from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 18th, at St. James Catholic Church in Gonzales.  

Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife Bonnie Mae Carney Lloyd, parents, Charles and Anna Lloyd, brother, Charles Lloyd, sister Laura Wilson.  

Jack is survived by his daughter, Ann Reay and her husband Bill of San Felipe, TX., brother, Jimmy Lloyd and his wife Barbara of Shiner, sisters, Mary Jean Geaslin and her husband David of Gonzales, Catherine Boelter and her husband Oscar of Seguin, TX., Judy Bell and her husband Mack of Houston, Connie Dolezal and her husband Sonny of Gonzales, and his granddaughter, Bonnie Reay Knott and her husband Frank of Houston and many nieces and nephews. 

Jack will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services were under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home.
