Joyce Nell Mauer Boysen

Joyce Nell Mauer Boysen, 82, of Gonzales, left this world Thursday, June 25, 2020 to be with her Lord and her love, Doug. Joyce was born Aug. 3, 1937 in Cuero to Albert B. and Ella Mae Brown Mauer. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Gonzales.

Joyce was a humble and selfless soul who was always putting everyone before herself. Joyce loved her God, her husband, her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, family, and friends. Her faithfulness was steadfast and strong. She instilled her faith in her girls and grandchildren. Joyce never met a stranger and was generous to a fault. She had a servant’s heart and even 25 years after leaving the family grocery business, Joyce still dearly missed all the friends she and Doug made along the way. Her greatest joy was ministering to her family, church, and community.

Joyce Boysen is survived by her adoring family, daughters and sons-in-law: Cathy and Gordon McIver of Pagosa Springs, CO, Jane and Garlan Blundell of Gonzales, Barbara and Michael Kuck of Cheapside, Sharon and Tim Wigley of San Marcos; sisters and brother-in-law: Mary Beth and David Ducote of Granbury, and Carey Mae Wolf of Dripping Springs; grandchildren: Garrett (Camille) Blundell, Jordan Blundell, Joshua (Brittany) Floyd, Allison (Leland) Krauser, Allen James McIver, Katelyn (Ian) Campbell, Lindsey Kuck, Derek Wigley, Skyler McIver, Tanner Wigley; and great-grandchildren: Caris, Conley, and Blythe Blundell and Alexis Lewis. She was preceded in death by her loving husband: Douglas Boysen; parents; and brother-in-law: Mel Wolf.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2020 in the Gonzales First Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. in the church with Pastor Ildiko Rigney officiating. Interment will follow in Hermann Son’s Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Gordon McIver, Garlan Blundell, Michael Kuck, Tim Wigley, Garrett Blundell, Jordan Blundell, Joshua Floyd, Allen James McIver, Derek Wigley, and Tanner Wigley.

Memorials may be made to the Gonzales First Lutheran Church or the Friends of Gonzales Animal Shelter.

Due to current CDC and State mandates regarding COVID-19, protective measures regarding social distancing, limited attendance capacity, and use of personal protective masks are recommended for the visitation and services.
