GJHS 7A volleyball team loses in three sets
Thursday, Sept. 5, the Gonzales Lady Apache 7th Grade A Team fought hard but was unfortunately defeated by La Vernia in three sets.

GJHS 8th grade teams come up short
On Thursday, Sept. 5, the Junior High Lady Apache volleyball team traveled to La Vernia to play their first game of the season. Both 8th grade teams came up short, however, they didn’t go down without a fight. B Team lost in two sets. The first set score was 25-13 and the second set score was 26-24. The A Team also went two sets. The scores were 25-11 and 25-19.
8A wins home tournament, 8B loses close
The Gonzales Junior High School volleyball tournament was Saturday, Sept. 7. The 8th grade A Team earned first place. They started off the tournament by defeating Luling in two sets. The scores were 25-19 and 24-14. They then played Del Valley in the championship game. The scores were 25-14 and 25-13, Gonzales won both sets.
The 8th grade B Team also played in the tournament. The first game went to Hallettsville. Set scores were 25-12 and 25-11. The next game was against Luling. The first set score was 25-20, Gonzales won. However, Luling won the next two sets. The scores were very close, 25-27 and 15-12.
7A team takes 3rd, knocks off 7B in tournament
On Saturday, Sept. 7, the Gonzales Lady Apache 7th Grade A Team competed in the Gonzales volleyball tournament and took home third place overall. Gonzales A team was defeated by Hallettsville in two sets, defeated Gonzales B in two sets, and defeated Luling in three sets for third place. Top players for the tournament were Peyton Harkey, Krissy Hodges, Sarah Padilla, and Mariela Grifaldo with top points scored. Everyone played hard and did an outstanding job. Great job Lady Apaches.
Meanwhile, the 7th grade B team lost to both Smithville and the Gonzales A team in the tournament. However, with consistent serving from Lauren Rodriguez and Mariska Leal, along with a great team effort from all the girls it shows that tremendous progress has been made. The coaches could not be more proud. Go Lady Apaches.
GJHS 8B, 8A best Pleasanton
The 8th grade B team defeated Pleasanton in two sets. The scores were 26-24 and 25-14. Top scorers of the night were Kaiya Mammarella with 13 points, Bella Guerra with 8 points, Grace Frederick with 5 points and Hailey Garza with 4 points.
The 8th grade A team also defeated Pleasanton in two sets. The scores were 25-10 and 25-14. In the first set, Tara Lester served nine aces in a row. Paisley Ploeger was up after her, and served 12 aces in a row. In the second set, Macy Sample served 11 aces. Tara Lester and Paisley Ploeger each got two hits and Malory Clack, Kelly Breitschopf, Jamyia Eleby each one hit. Macy Sample ended the night with 7 hit assists.

On Monday, Sept. 9, the Gonzales Lady Apache 7th Grade A team fought hard but was unfortunately defeated by Pleasanton in two sets. Top scorers were Peyton Harkey with 14 points, Krissy Hodges with 5 points, and Peyton Springfield with 4 points. Great defensive play by Sarah Padilla, Kilee Schwausch and Bella Aguero. Way to work hard and great teamwork. The coaches are proud, go Lady Apaches.
