Katelyn “Katie” Olesya Carter

Posted

Katelyn “Katie” Olesya Carter, age 16, of Gonzales, Texas, left this world unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 25, 2022.  Born in Yaraslav, Russia, on September 9, 2005, she was the beloved daughter of Linda Carter.

Katelyn was a loving, compassionate person who had a beautiful smile that could light up your soul. She was funny and vivacious, but also introverted and introspective. Always a planner, Katelyn was an honor student driven to succeed. She participated in Band, Theatre, Color Guard, Art Club and Power Lifting.   Katelyn was a kind person, willing to help anyone in need. She was especially attentive to those who felt left out or struggling to fit in. Fiercely loyal to her family and friends, Katelyn was loved and respected by so many.

Katelyn shared a special bond with her mother. She frequently delighted her with little messages designed to brighten her day, or a spontaneous bear hug, telling her she was her “favorite Mom.” She was also a consummate animal lover, adding new strays to her pack as often as possible. We will always remember her infectious smile, beautiful eyes, and caring personality. Her presence in our lives will be sorely missed. When you think of Katelyn, celebrate the good memories you have of her. Remember that life is fragile and short, and should be lived to the fullest.

Katelyn was preceded in death by her beloved grandfather, “Papa” Johnny Carter.  Katelyn is survived by her mother, Linda Carter, grandmother, Doris Carter, uncle, Bud Carter (Peggy), aunt, Mary Carter.  Surviving cousins include Jacob Carter (Deysi),  Sara Holton (Rhett), and Tyler Carter (Lexi), and Ethan, Selena, Zoey and Zach Carter,  Rhett Jr and Reese Holton.  She is also survived by her special god mother, Tammy Winn, and Godparents, Jenny and Bruce Pierdolla.  Katelyn also leaves behind special friends, Regan Rowlett, Sara Burke, Alyssa Cantrell, Juliscia Jackson, Haley Garza,  Kendell and Kendra Narro, as well as her other special family Daddy Dean, Brandi, Mikayla and Miranda Vinklarek.

Visitation with her family and friends will be held Monday, January 31, 2022 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home, 906 Saint Paul, Gonzales, Texas. A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 10:00 am at the JB Wells Expo Center, 2301 CR 197, Gonzales, Texas. Katelyn would want this to be a colorful loving celebration.
