The Gonzales Lady Apaches’ volleyball season came to end in Seguin in a three-set (19-25, 18-25, 18-25) loss to the Devine Lady Warhorses Monday, Nov. 4.
The Lady Apaches kept toe-to-toe with the Lady Warhorses, even to the point of leading in the second and third sets.
Sophomore outside hitter Jordyn Gonzales was proud of how her team performed compared to the last two Lady Apaches playoff teams.
“We had a really good season in the beginning, we held it strong. We may have had some ups and downs, but we worked through it tonight. I think if we would have come out stronger, we would have gotten the win. But I'm really proud of my team for pushing through and getting to bond with everyone was really cool,” Gonzales said.
Junior Middle hitter Isabella Ikard recorded multiple kills in the bi-district match against Devine, and despite the loss, she was proud of her team.
“My team did really good today, probably the best we ever did. My team was hustling. Everybody just was hitting everything, holes and everything. I'm just so proud of my team. We did so good,” Ikard said.
Ikard and Gonzales will be stepping into leadership roles for the 2025 season and they are excited for the next players to join the team.
“I'm very excited to lead the next girls, because I've always been led and I'm excited to lead this time. I'm excited to take control in the court,” Gonzales said.
“I use my leadership skills to teach that it's okay to make mistakes. It'll grow from it. I want to show I want to I want people to remember my name and not just remember as just a ball. I want people to know that I'm a leader, and that I will help and I'll help them through it,” Ikard said.
The Lady Apaches combined to score 55 points in all three sets, the most points a playoff team from Gonzales has scored in the last three seasons.
The Lady Apaches will back on the volleyball court in Fall 2025.
