Lady Apaches fall to Lady Bears in district opener

The Gonzales Lady Apaches opened up the new year with the district opener against the La Vernia Lady Bears at home Friday, Jan. 3.

The Lady Apaches kept La Vernia within five points at the end of the first quarter, but La Vernia shut down Gonzales’ offense in two of the last three quarters.

Senior Bella Aguero led the team with 16 points in the 63-31 loss to La Vernia, dropping to 0-1 in district play.

The Lady Apaches hosted their rivals, the Cuero Lady Gobblers, Tuesday, Jan. 7 and will go on the road to San Antonio Friday, Jan. 10 for a game against the JFK Lady Rockets.

The JFK game tips off at 6:30 p.m.
