Lady Apaches FC drops 8-0 match to La Vernia after Luling, JFK wins

The Gonzales Lady Apaches FC hosted the La Vernia Lady Bears at Apache Field Tuesday, Feb. 25, but found themselves on the short end of an 8-0 loss to the district’s first-place squad, snapping a five-game win streak.

Gonzales still remains in second place in District 27-4A with a 7-2 district record and an overall mark of 11-4-2.

Last week saw the Lady Apaches get a thrilling 1-0 road victory over the Luling Lady Eagles in a district match Friday, Feb. 21. Abby Reyna was the sole person to find the net with a goal for the Lady Apaches. Gonzales also beat JFK, 1-0, at Apache Field on Tuesday, Feb. 18, in district play.

The Lady Apaches have outscored their district opponents, 22-16, and all opponents, 35-26.

They have remaining games at home versus San Antonio Memorial on Friday, Feb. 28; at home vs. Yoakum on Tuesday, March 4, and at Cole for the finale on Friday, March 7.
