The Nixon-Smiley Lady Mustangs hosted the Runge Yellowjackets Tuesday, Sept. 24 in the final non-district match of the 2024 season.
The Lady Mustangs snapped a four-game losing streak with a five-set win over the Yellowjackets.
Nixon-Smiley will shift focus to district play and will travel to Stockdale Friday, Sept. 27 for the district opener against the Lady Brahmas.
The last time these teams squared off as district opponents was in the 2021 season; and the rivalry extends to all sports with Nixon and Stockdale being neighbors on US 87.
The Lady Mustangs are 2-11 against Stockdale since 2016; the last time Nixon-Smiley beat the Lady Brahmas was a district sweep in the 2021 season.
The Stockdale match will start at 5 p.m.
