Lee Ornelas

Lee Ornelas, 63, went to be with his heavenly Father on Thursday, December 2, 2021. Lee was born in Gonzales, Texas, to Leon and Dora Ornelas. As a lifelong Gonzales resident, Lee went to Gonzales High School and married Mary Jane Martinez, also of Gonzales, on July 10, 1976, and soon started a family. Lee spent most of his career in the construction industry operating heavy machinery and as a foreman at Cal-Maine Foods. Lee truly loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren and he also enjoyed listening to music and watching movies.

Lee is loved and will be greatly missed. Lee is survived by his wife, Mary, children, Jennifer Ornelas of Waelder, Texas, Christopher Ornelas of Cedar Park, Texas, and Eric Ornelas of Gonzales, Texas, Mother, Dora Ornelas of Gonzales, Texas, brothers and sisters, Mary Amaya (Ruben) of Missouri City, Texas, Lupe Ornelas of Gonzales, Texas, Hope McHaney (David) of Seguin, Texas, Catherine Leal (Al Sampson) of Georgetown, Texas, Leon Ornelas (Lillie) of Wichita, Kansas, Leroy Ornelas (Chris) of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Doris Zambrano (Carney) of Gonzales, Texas, Veronica Cleveland (Johnathan) of Gonzales, Texas, David Ornelas (Lydia) of San Antonio, Texas, Cinnamon Ornelas of Pflugerville, Texas, grandchildren, Isaiah Camarillo, Noah Camarillo, Abigail Trevino, Blake Ornelas, Nico Ornelas, Megan Ornelas, Raven Ornelas, Jayla Ornelas and 8 great-grandchildren. Lee is preceded in death by his father Leon Ornelas Sr.

The family received friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday, December 6, 2021, in St. James Catholic Church with a Holy Rosary at 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial followed at 11 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church with Fr. Jason Martini as celebrant. Pallbearers were Isaiah Camarillo, Noah Camarillo, Blake Ornelas, Jeremy Ornelas, Joey Ornelas, Brandon Martinez, Aidan Hernandez, and Adam Quintero.
