Veteran Texas newspaper reporter Liz Adams is the newest addition to the Gonzales Inquirer staff, having begun work as a staff writer on Thursday, Nov. 11, publisher Lew K. Cohn announced.

“We’re pleased to have someone of Liz’ caliber joining our staff at the Inquirer,” Cohn said. “Liz is a talented journalist and reporter who has won awards for her work. She is adept at covering local news and I know our readers will appreciate her dedication and commitment to seeing that Gonzales County happenings are covered in their hometown newspaper.

“Liz has already stepped in and begun making great contributions to our news coverage. Please welcome her to the community and feel free to reach out to her with story ideas.”

Adams is new to the southern region of Texas. Although she is originally from Atlanta, Georgia, she has recently relocated from Spur, Texas after serving a region spanning Briscoe, Cottle, Dickens, Floyd, Hall, Kent, King, Motley and Stonewall counties.

During her time in West Texas, Adams wrote a variety of columns, features and news articles for Caprock Courier, the Floyd County Hesperian-Beacon, the Texas Spur and the Double Mountain Chronicle and often attended community events to share experiences through photo and video.

In 2020, she earned a first-place award from the Texas Press Association in Headline Writing. A third place in News Writing and Feature Writing from the Panhandle Press Association followed and she was also selected for third in Editorial Writing from the West Texas Press Association.

Adams earned her BA and an MAT from West Texas A&M University. Prior to her news career, she taught junior high school English and history.

“I look forward to building relationships with community members in Gonzales and exploring the rich history and culture here. This is a wonderful opportunity and I’m thrilled I was able to come and take it,” said Adams.

Adams enjoys traveling and getting to know the best local restaurants. She is a fan of blues and jazz music.
