The Main Street Advisory Board discussed the beautification of downtown Gonzales at the last regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, Aug. 18. During this meeting, held at the municipal building, the board discussed multiple ideas, after having approved a subcommittee at the meeting prior to this.

“We suggested last meeting the introduction of beautification efforts to our main street businesses.” Tiffany Hutchinson-Padilla said. “I think they have all gotten on board with this sidewalk cleanup, as it looks much better than it used to. We want to thank them for that.”

The board drafted a thank you letter to all businesses involved with this sidewalk clean up effort, Hutchinson-Padilla added. The board also approved sending out Main Street lunch boxes with thank you notes to all participants in this cleanup effort for the beautification of downtown Gonzales.

In further business, the board discussed multiple upcoming events: 2022 Rum Run, 2022 Happy Fall Y’all, 2022 Tamale Fest, 2022 Winterfest and the 2023 Inter-Tribal Pow-Wow.

The board also discussed the possibility of securing a grant for the purpose of adding murals in the alleyway off of Saint George St., while also cleaning the entire area of the alleyway in the project.

The next Main Street Board meeting is set for Thursday, Sept. 15.
