Manuel Cervantes Lopez, 83, of Gonzales, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021. He was born Sept. 21, 1937 in Gonzales the son of Porfido and Rosa Benavides Lopez. He married Eva Ramirez on May 28, 1959 in Arizona. He was a retired carpenter.

Manuel thought family was important and loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. His hobbies included playing the lotto, going antique shopping, and watching the Dallas Cowboys.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Eva Lopez; daughters, Sylvia Cantu and husband Robert, Debra Escobedo, Sarah Lookabill and husband Jeff, Angela Hood and husband Richard and Roxanne Lopez all of Gonzales; sons, Manuel Lopez and wife Rhonda of New Braunfels and Louis Lopez and wife Diana of Gonzales; sisters, Sylvia Gonzales and husband Eufenio of Nebraska, Lupe Rosas of Gonzales, Julia Meza of San Antonio, Elvira Briseno and husband Leo of Houston, Carmen Sanchez and husband William, Angelita and Rhonda Lopez and Diana Lopez all of Corpus Christi; brothers, Joe Arellano of Nebraska, Gilberto Lopez, Jose Lopez and Ernesto Lopez all of Corpus Christi. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Sandra Hunt; brothers: Juan Lopez, Benito Lopez, Albert Arrellano Sr., Robert Arrellano, Rudy C. Arrellano, and Roland Arrellano; sisters: Guadalupe Lopez, Manuela Lopez, Margarita Lopez Gonzales, Delia Gonzales and Elida Santillana; son-in-law Christopher Escobedo.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with Manuel Navejar officiating. Interment will follow at Gonzales Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers include: Steven Cantu, Jason Pena, Dustin Vega, Zack Lopez, Kyle Rivera and Walter Hood. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Hayden Lopez, Sean Cantu, Joseph Escobedo, Laken Escobedo, Jace Escobedo, Tyler Pena, Jonathan Pena, Seath Sealey, Brayden Sealey, Sebastian Sealey, Brayson Sealey, Jalon Leal, Blaze Rivera, Weston Lopez, Richard Hood, Riley Hood, Kennedy Casares and Holden Hunt.

Due to current CDC, State and local mandates, protective measures regarding social distancing, limited attendance capacity, and use of personal protective masks will be required for the visitation, chapel service and graveside burial rite. Those remotely symptomatic of COVID-19 are politely asked not to attend. Services are under the care and direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
