Mariano Delgado Martinez

Mariano Delgado Martinez, 92, of Waelder died Sunday, July 18, 2021 at University Medical Center in San Antonio. A lifelong resident of Waelder, Mariano was a retired farmer, and a member of Post #15045. Mariano proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waelder, Texas, with burial to follow at Waelder Community Cemetery in Waelder, Texas.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. till 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Smith Funeral Home in Flatonia, Texas with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

Mariano was preceded in death by his wife: Fransisca Martinez; son: Mariano Martinez, Jr.; parents: Juan and Petra Martinez; brothers and sisters: Santos Martinez, Seferino Martinez, Bonefacio Martinez, Isadora Cedillio, Larry Martinez, and Georgia Meza.

Mariano is survived by his sons: Ascension Martinez (Rosa) of Slaton, Texas, Julian Martinez (Delma) of Conroe, Texas, Steven Martinez of Lubbock, Texas, Johnny Martinez (Rosario) of Slaton, Texas, Joe Martinez (Christina) of Slaton, Texas, David Martinez (Dora) of Slaton, Texas, Angel Martinez of Slaton, Texas, Cecilio Martinez (Lupe) of Houston, Texas; daughters: Angela Martinez (Gabriela) of Waelder, Texas, Rosa Martinez Garza of Waelder, Texas and Adela Hartman (Frank) of Conroe, Texas; sisters: Paula Wiggins of Waelder, Texas and Victoria Cobbler of Luling, Texas; 32 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, and 26 great-great grandchildren.

Mariano will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
